From code confusion to clarity
The landscape of energy compliance in Canada has outpaced the tools available to navigate it.
From the increasingly layered BC Step Code to the rollout of NECB 2020, compliance has become a moving target for developers, municipalities, and consultants alike. Our platform is built on government approved modelling software — enhanced with AI tools — to deliver fast, reliable, and code-aligned modelling that adapts to real-world complexity.

Early Insights for Developers

Serving projects from coast to coast — EnergyCodes™ delivers fast, reliable building energy compliance assessments, reports and studies reviewed by Professional Engineers.
How it Works
1
Provide project details – site location, square footage, unit count, geometry.
2
Get a code-compliant baseline – Step Code level, performance targets (TEDI, MEUI, GHGI).
3
Download a compliance snapshot – for internal planning, financing, or authority engagement.
Deliverables:

EnergyCodes™ offers three report types to support projects across Canada — from rezoning and development permits to final compliance and design optimization (Parametric Design Report).

Energy Study Report

Used during rezoning or development permit phases, or to confirm early compliance feasibility.
This report provides a high-level energy model and summary of expected performance against applicable codes (e.g., BC Step Code, NECB 2020, ABC 9.36).
Ideal for early-stage decision-making and incentive exploration.
Compliance Report

Required for building permit submission and final inspection.
Includes full energy modelling (HOT2000 for Part 9, EnergyPlus for Part 3), reference vs. proposed building comparison, and all required forms and documentation.
Meets provincial reporting requirements including BC Energy Compliance Forms, blower door testing, and EnerGuide labels

Parametric Design Report

Built for design teams — not for municipal compliance.
This report uses advanced parametric modelling to compare envelope, HVAC, glazing, and system options.
Powered by ASHRAE 140-compliant EnergyPlus and enhanced with AI tools from the NREL ecosystem, it helps inform design decisions and optimize performance.
